Without further ado

Often, these words ‘without further ado’ are said before calling upon someone of importance or moving on to the main event. It has become a tradition. For the audience, build up matters, but they can also do without it if everything before was ‘ado’. More often than not, warming up a crowd is just a formality or a mere trend. If I have chosen to spend my time to attend an event, or a concert, or a comedy show, I know why I’m here. I don’t want to be subjected to unnecessary delays. Of course, only when I haven’t chosen, then the heightened fuss might lead to something.

The same example works for going to a restaurant for a specific dish. We can extend the wait further by bringing in a minute portion of appetizers, or can directly dig in the main course. Again, if your motive is to spend more time at the restaurant and savor everything one by one, only then it is fine.

For me, getting to the point, in time, works wonders. If it were up to me, I will cut a from ado and just do it. Delaying just because of tradition might be off-putting for many. If you have something to do or say, the right time is now.

FU News – Tension at an all-time high in a narrow alleyway today

Lucknow, India – FU News Staff

In clearly a case of growing Intolerance, today in the office of certain department, 2 men of 2 different communities got stuck in a logger jam situation in a narrow alleyway near the Water Cooler.

Both men had more than reasonable paunches so only one could pass at a time. However, due to the rising Intolerance, both came in together and expected the other to give side to the other.

It was late at night and it was dark and then suddenly…

Most people would’ve had this experience: It would have been late at night. You were hanging out with your friends or cousins and someone pitched the idea of talking about the ghosts and supernatural kinds of stuff they had experienced or knew of someone who had. Surely, it would’ve driven someone to leave the room to avoid that. While, for some, it would have been an experience to cherish, be imaginative, make jokes, play pranks, and what not!

Since today is Halloween, a day not really celebrated in India as such, but still everyone is familiar with it. We don’t really prefer talking about such stuff but as a society, we certainly enjoy horror in one form or the other. Let me share 3 instances like that which faint-hearted people can certainly skip. Heh, no I am kidding, everyone can read and share their own as well.

1408

One time I watched a movie called 1408, starring John Cusack on my computer. I enjoyed it. As they say, it was a one time watch Horror movie. It ended normally, life went on, things became usual.

Few days later, the same movie was being shown on TV. I thought of watching it again. When the climax came, something was off.

When I had watched on the computer earlier, the ending was different. When they showed on TV, the ending was different. Without spoiling, I can say that in one case, a character dies, while in another ending he doesn’t.

That weirdness blew my mind. I tried to think harder whether I actually watched the movie earlier or not. Or it was some new format of Deja Vu I was experiencing. It kept on wondering what’s the deal with this or should I get myself checked.

Turned out that the movie 1408 had 2 deliberate endings. One was the US version while another was Canadian.

It was a temporary but a great experience to feel out of control about what one had witnessed first hand. It was like a dream which feels real. Kind of like limbo.

Good fun.

Here’s its Minimal Poster by the way.

The Manga Guide To… Everything

In Japanese Culture, comicbooks are integral. They not only have comics prevalent in many forms for kids, a large portion of the publication is meant and received well equally for adults too.

You want to tell a story, there will be a Manga for it. You want to tell history, there will be a comic book for that. And, if you want to learn Maths, there will be a graphic novel for that too.

The True Egalitarian Aspect of Success

I am a big fan of Casey Neistat (YouTube in case you don’t know him). He said, in an interview:

“You realize that you will never be the best-looking person in the room. You’ll never be the smartest person in the room. You’ll never be the most educated, the most well-versed. You can never compete on those levels. But what you can always compete on, the true egalitarian aspect to success is hard work. You can always work harder than the next guy.”

Some people may appear that they were born with a specific talent. Or they might happen to be born with certain privileges. It is not their fault. But, in case you have nothing of that sort, you can still have the full ability to try harder. And harder. And harder.

The Point of No Return

Whenever you ask a friend or a fellow colleague if they have filed their Income Tax Return, first they give a huge exhalation of frustration. It is as if you just reminded them of their greatest enemy. Then, they utter fancy words under their breath. As if their greatest enemy just passed by them in a shiny red Bentley. And lastly, they thank you for reminding them of the due date by which they have to file their Income Tax Returns. As if their greatest enemy just rammed into a pole.
