‘Inbox Zero’

If you are not looking for anything fancy like https://www.instagram.com/thehomeedit, then read on.

I was suffering from a barrage of emails showing up in my inbox daily. I am not talking about setting up rules and filters to navigate the inbox, which is a must anyway, which could help you get rid of so many emails. But I am going to tell you only one simple hack to get rid of them and organize them better.

There’s a button called ‘Archive’ in most of the email clients. Select all your emails, except the most important ones on which you are currently working on, and click on the Archive button. Yes, do it! C’mon! (Don’t delete, Archive. There’s a difference!). The important ones, which should not be more than 5-7 at a given time can stay in the inbox. All your archived mails will stay safe which you can further organize by adding labels. But archiving all the non-important emails and keeping only a handful of very important mails will save you a bucket load of time and your day will look more productive.

This is how my Outlook and Gmail inboxes look. Sorry, I went on the Dark Side.

No matter what you do, you can never be on top of all the emails simultaneously, unless you are an Octopus. And obviously, you are no Hindu God. So, why not clean up and make your Inbox as Inbox Zero and as soon you are done reading an email, either delete it or archive it. Most emails are useless and having them will only make it difficult to search for important ones.

Believe me, this has worked wonders for me and can work wonders for you too.

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
